In this season of thankfulness, do you have something for which you are especially thankful? I am thankful for so many people and things! Yet the One I am most thankful for is my Savior, Jesus Christ. Why am I thankful for Him above all others?
- He is God, who created me. My very existence depends on Him.
- He loves me perfectly, despite my many faults.
- He loves me so much, He died a terrible, painful death on a cross to pay for EVERY wrong I have ever done or will do. All I had to do was accept His offer of Lordship, grace and forgiveness.
- As a result of accepting Him as my Lord and Savior, He has given me His Holy Spirit, who is a constant companion and loving presence throughout each day and year.
- Through His Holy Spirit, I receive perfect guidance, encouragement, gentle correction, strength, comfort, and direction for every aspect of my life! Who else could give that?
- As I allow Him to live in me, He surrounds and fills me with His love, joy and peace.
- He satisfies the deepest desires of my heart.
- He helps me every day, and if I keep living in Him, He will take me to His glorious heaven. There I will live in His marvelous loving, joyous presence forever!
- He is with me now and for eternity!
What an awesome God! He offers His forgiveness and loving presence to anyone who will accept Him as Lord and Savior.
As Savior, He paid for the sins of every person who will accept His offer of forgiveness. Acts 2:38 says we are to turn from our sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This is done for the forgiveness of sin and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, His promised presence.
As Lord, He asks us to walk in obedience to Him. In John 14:21 Jesus says, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I, too, will love him and show myself to him.” The absolutely wonderful gift of His presence is for those who love Him with all their heart and try to follow His leading.
Would you like the loving presence of this awesome Creator of everything to be your constant companion and helper? Are you willing to give your life to Him? Ask Him to be your Lord and to forgive your sins. He runs to the cry of those who sincerely desire Him.
