I was afraid. My husband had fallen and had a spinal cord injury. How bad was it? How much would he recover? Would he be able to work? Would we lose our home? What did I need to do? What did we need to change? Questions swirled in my head. Then I remembered a mug I had seen. Written on it was, “Don’t be afraid of tomorrow, for God is already there.” “Yes,” I thought, “God is there and He knows what the future holds.” He also knew my husband would be injured this day. Yet, He was with us, taking us through each event, one step at a time.
I thought back over our marriage. I remembered the many ways God had guided our steps and provided.
Yes, God had been faithful, just as He promised. Matthew 6:33 states, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We had tried, although imperfectly, to walk in a right relationship with God and to do His will. He fulfilled His promise by always taking care of us. Hebrews 13: 8 states that, “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.” He had proven His faithfulness in the past, and I knew I could trust Him to safely carry us through the future. What an amazing, faithful God! What a source of total security! I had no reason to be afraid.
